EQUITABLE DEVELOPMENT OFFICE

Equitable Development Office

We work to promote the development of new projects that are community-serving, increase equity, and do not result in involuntary displacement of our existing residents and businesses. We believe that the East Colfax corridor will develop in the future due to opportunity zone designation and the City and County of Denver’s planned Bus Rapid Transit project and we want to ensure the right kind of development comes first.

Motel Acquisitions

The Fax purchased two East Colfax motels in September 2022. Located at 8405 and 8415 E. Colfax, The Westerner and Sand & Sage motels were acquired to provide temporary shelter space for families experiencing homelessness and a site for future affordable redevelopment in the East Colfax community.

7900 East Colfax

The Fax is a member of the 7900 E. Colfax supportive housing project being developed by Brothers Redevelopment. When complete, 7900 will be a 72-unit supportive housing community for residents living with acquired brain injury. Programming will be provided by the Brain Injury Alliance while the Fax is leading the community engagement effort. The development team was awarded this project after a competitive City and County of Denver selection process. Construction on this project is expected to start in the Fall of 2021.
