The Fax’s Business Support Office provides critical assistance to East Colfax businesses during what are truly challenging times for small businesses.

The Business Support Office (BSO) at The Fax Partnership is dedicated to helping East Colfax corridor small businesses thrive. The BSO is staffed with four multilingual staff to serve the diverse small businesses community in the East Colfax area. The Fax BSO provides technical assistance and training so our businesses can improve their expertise and expand their customer base. This work includes providing assistance in applying for grants and loans, promoting small business education and operational improvements, and conducting safety training in partnership with the Denver Police Department. 2022
  • Assisted 89 businesses in various ways, including conducting Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) walks and assisting with grants and loans.
  • Conducted 15 business CPTED walks, resulting in eight businesses receiving physical security improvements such as security cameras and property maintenance.
  • Helped 17 businesses apply for grants and loans to support their growth and expansion.
  • Launched the Corner Store Initiative, providing targeted funding and support to small grocers in the East Colfax community.
  • Supported the corner store community by offering training on operational improvements, bookkeeping, and funding for interior and exterior designs.
  • Partnered with Community Enterprise Development Services (CEDS) to create tailored training materials for the East Colfax business community, including webinars and ten Pocket-Guides covering various business topics.

 

2021
  • Helped 126 small businesses obtain loans and grants worth $435,651.
  • Grew the database of small businesses to nearly 500 businesses, 200 more than we had in 2020.
  • Reached out to 244 small businesses in the East Colfax corridor with business resources and information.
  • Referred 20 small businesses to specialized business training.
  • Conducted 6 events/town halls on topics related to business grant programs, safety, business 101, and capital products.
2020
  • Helped 42 small businesses obtain loans and grants worth $262,467.
  • Gathered data of nearly 300 small businesses and created a growing database of businesses in the East Colfax corridor.
  • Conducted 2 events/town halls for the same business community. 
  • Helped 45 businesses receive free personal protective equipment kits from the City and County of Denver.
